About the GPA & CGPA Calculator
University results in Pakistan and many other countries are given as a GPA for each semester and a cumulative CGPA on a 4.00 scale. Each course counts according to its credit hours, so a 4-credit course affects your GPA more than a 2-credit one.
Add your courses, choose the grade you got (or expect) in each, and see your semester GPA. Enter your current CGPA and completed credit hours to see your new CGPA.
How to use the GPA & CGPA Calculator
- For each course, enter the credit hours and choose the grade. Use Add course for more rows.
- Optionally enter your current CGPA and the credit hours already completed.
- Click Calculate GPA.
Formula
Quality points of a course = grade points × credit hours.
GPA = total quality points ÷ total credit hours of the semester.
New CGPA = (old CGPA × old credits + semester quality points) ÷ (old credits + semester credits).
Grade points used: A+ / A 4.00, A− 3.67, B+ 3.33, B 3.00, B− 2.67, C+ 2.33, C 2.00, C− 1.67, D+ 1.33, D 1.00, F 0. Check your university's own scale — some differ slightly.
Examples
- Courses: 3 cr A, 3 cr B+, 4 cr B, 2 cr A−, 3 cr C+ → 48.32 quality points ÷ 15 credits = GPA 3.22.
- With a previous CGPA of 3.10 over 30 credits: (3.10 × 30 + 48.32) ÷ 45 = CGPA 3.14.
