Password Generator

Generate strong, random passwords with your choice of length and characters.

Runs in your browser — your data never leaves your device.

About the Password Generator

Weak and reused passwords are the most common way accounts get hacked. Create a long, random password for every account in one click.

Passwords are generated on your device using the browser's cryptographically secure random number generator. They are never sent to or stored on our server.

How to use the Password Generator

  1. Set the length (16 or more is recommended).
  2. Choose which character types to include. Tick Avoid look-alikes if you need to type the password by hand.
  3. Click Copy, or New for another password. Choose How many to create a list.

How it works

Each character is picked with crypto.getRandomValues using unbiased rejection sampling, and at least one character from each selected type is included.

Strength is estimated as length × log₂(number of possible characters). With all four types (87 characters), a 16-character password has about 103 bits of entropy — far beyond what can be guessed by brute force.

Examples

  • 12 characters, all types: about 77 bits — strong.
  • 20 characters, all types: about 129 bits — very strong.

Frequently asked questions

Is it safe to generate passwords online?

Here, yes: the password is created by your own browser and never transmitted. Even so, store passwords in a reputable password manager rather than in plain notes.

How long should my password be?

Use at least 12 characters, and 16 or more for important accounts like email and banking. Length matters more than complexity.
