About the Meta Tag Generator
Meta tags tell search engines and social networks what a page is about. A clear title and description can improve how often people click your result, and Open Graph tags control the preview card when a link is shared on WhatsApp, Facebook or LinkedIn.
Fill in the fields, watch the character counters and the search preview, then copy the ready-made HTML into the <head> of your page.
How to use the Meta Tag Generator
- Enter the page title and meta description. Keep an eye on the counters.
- Add the page URL, a share image URL and your site name for social previews.
- Choose whether search engines may index the page.
- Click Copy code and paste it inside your page's
<head>section.
How it works
Recommended lengths (search engines cut longer text by pixel width, so these are guides):
- Title: about 50–60 characters.
- Description: about 120–160 characters.
Special characters are HTML-escaped automatically. Open Graph (og:) and Twitter Card tags reuse the same title, description and image.
Examples
- Title:
Brick Calculator — Bricks, Cement & Sand for a Wall(51 characters). - Robots set to noindex, follow for a thank-you page you don't want in search results.
Frequently asked questions
Does Google always show my meta description?
Not always. Google may choose different text from the page if it better matches the search. A good description still helps in most cases.
Should I add a keywords meta tag?
Google and Bing ignore the keywords tag for ranking, so it is optional and off by default.
